Coil and Foil Production System
Hot rolling of titanium sheet and strip can be used in reversible four-high hot rolling mill with coiler, four-high reversing steckel mill and multi-stand four-high hot rolling mill. Compared with the hot rolling mill, the reversible four-high hot rolling mill with coiler has less equipment investment and occupies a small area. It can roll hot rolled plate with good quality and thickness of 3 ~ 6mm. It is suitable for the production equipment of small batch and various titanium alloy strip. Generally, various titanium alloy plates with thickness greater than 3mm are produced by hot rolling method.
Titanium alloy plates less than 2mm thick are usually produced by cold rolling. Compared with hot rolling, cold rolling plate has the advantages of good surface quality, high dimensional accuracy and small dimensional tolerance. Cold rolled sheet can be produced by strip method, while titanium alloy cold rolled sheet is mostly produced by block method. Cold rolling is usually carried out on a four-high reversing cold rolling mill or a multi-stand tandem cold rolling mill. Sheet and strip less than 0.5 mm in thickness are rolled on a twenty-roller mill. In order to improve the quality of products, these mills should be controlled by computer. In order to obtain titanium alloy strip with different thickness, the process of cold rolling, intermediate annealing and finishing can be repeated many times. In order to improve the plasticity of the material and reduce the deformation resistance during rolling, warm rolling can also be carried out in the range of 600 ~ 850℃ when producing high-alloyed titanium alloy strip.
